Peterbilt 388/389/567 Bi-Xenon (HID) Headlight Upgrade Kit
$450.00 – $1,100.00
This new kit has been developed in response to your requests! You can now upgrade the headlights on your Peterbilt 388, 389, or 567 series truck, and get superior bi-xenon HID performance the right way.
The standard version includes new headlight housings, with everything installed in them for a quick installation. No baking, cutting, drilling, or gluing! The benefit here is that for some reason you’re not happy with the kit, it’s just as easy to undo and go back to stock, and since we’re not putting any new holes in the headlamp assembly you’re not at risk of any leaks where dust or water might enter.
That includes:
- 2 new headlight housings, with all-metal bi-xenon projectors installed
- 2 wiring harnesses that plug in to your truck’s factory wiring
- 2 Morimoto XB ballasts, with mounting pads
- 2 Morimoto XB35 4500K D2S bulbs
- Printed installation instructions with color photographs
If you’re a little more handy, your headlight housings are in good shape, and you want to save a little money, we’re also offering a DIY version of this kit. It includes all of the hardware you’ll need to do the installation, but you supply a few more tools and a little elbow grease. You’ll have to separate the two halves of the light housing, and trim one plastic piece inside the housing (a pair of tin snips will do the job). If you go this route, you’ll still get detailed step-by-step instructions, showing color pictures along the way.
What’s wrong with the lights that came on the truck?
Not unlike a lot of other headlight assemblies, the clear polycarbonate front and the silvered reflectors on these headlights will degrade over time. Even if your lights are brand new, this kit will be a significant upgrade.
What about other kits out there that don’t cost nearly as much?
Many HID retrofit kits use generic components, matching only a bulb base. Others include wiring harnesses that just adapt from one bulb type to another. Included ballasts are often of poor quality, and have trouble starting quickly, restarting hot bulbs, or have slight flickers that can be bothersome. They’re the type of kits that NHTSA has ruled can’t be made to meet the performance requirements in FMVSS Standard 108. This kit is different.
